Over the next several days, I will be posting a series of pointers from Sri Amma Bhagavan about Awakening. These are not to be practiced. They are simply markers so one recognizes whether they are awake. Not unlike everything else in the universe, awakening is a process that is unfolding. It is a journey not a destination.
Collective Consciousness and Unconsciousness
Sri Amma Bhagavan says that the collective consciousness has produced many great teachers throughout history in response to humanity’s suffering, i.e., Jesus, Buddha, Mohammed, Ramana Maharshi, etc. However, the power of the ancient mind flowing through mankind – the collective unconscious – is so strong little progress has been made. We need only to look around at the human condition – war, senseless killings, poverty, hunger, meaningless consumption, the breakdown of family units, violence in all of its forms, racism, polarization, and self-centric societies and behavior.
Humanity is only 0.05 percent of the species on our planet, yet we are creating over 95% percent of the destruction taking place. Sri Bhagavan says that man cannot make it on his own. Currently, we are simply existing not living. This is the case and has been so since before Covid-19. He has invited us to contemplate how simple it is just to live.
From Existing to Living - Mystical Surgery
“There is great happiness in not wanting, in not being something, not trying to get somewhere,” says Sri Bhagavan. He goes on to say that this is how we should be experiencing life, but not to try practicing this approach. A neurobiological shift must happen to make it possible to be in life actually living.
“This is possible only through a mystical surgery whose effects are physical. This meditation is only to get you ready for a mystical surgery, if you want it. “We are here only for carrying out this mystical surgery as we have already done for hundreds.”
Each month, we gather for the Journey Into Happiness, so these mystical surgeries can occur.
