Svadhisthana Chakra - Is the Desire for Wealth and Security Driving Your Relationship Choices?

Updated: Mar 30, 2022

It Might Be A Sign of an Imbalance in Your Sacral Chakra - Svadisthana

We can begin to recognize whether our chakras are balanced based on how their influence is showing up in our lives. Svadisthana is comprised of two words - "Swa" means self and "adhishthana" means established. Or, we can see it as the seat of the self. The imprints of this chakra are the basis for our personality from past lives, karma, and early experiences in this life. Some believe the Svadisthana chakra begins forming around age 7 years; By that time, we have already made fundamental childhood decisions, albeit not expressed, about how the world works and our place in the world. It is the seat of our unconscious behavior.

The Svadisthana chakra is about about connection, partnership, the power of relationships. The Mooladhara's energy is I AM. The Svadisthana's is I FEEL.

Its color is orange. The chakra is associated with the water element. The sacral chakra is located in the genital region, very close to the root chakra Mooladhara. The seed sound is "Vang" and the Mudra is the same as for the root chakra - Pranakriya 1 (tips of index fingers touch tips of thumbs). When the sacral chakra is balanced, the archetype is that of Emperor or Empress, sovereign beings. When it is out of balance the archetype is that of a martyr - abandoning self for some cause or other people.

The emotional preoccupation of the Sacral chakra is "fear" and ultimately the fear of death. When this chakra is balanced it gives sway to creativity in all of its many forms.
